    Dear beautiful you

    9th October 2017 /

Dear, I love you! I cherish you! I thank you for being the vessel for my soul! You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are precious! You deserve to be happy, you deserve to follow your dreams, you deserve to honour your path. You don’t have to hold on to the past, you do not need to keep the painful memories, you do not need to suffer anymore. You don’t have to be unhappy because someone else is unhappy, you do not need to commiserate with their pain. That won’t help ease their pain, that won’t make them feel better. You have the right to put your needs first, you…

    You deserve your love

    14th August 2017 /

How comfortable are you with yourself? Are you accepting of yourself? What do you feel when you look in the mirror? What’s your first thought when you see a picture of yourself? Love yourself! It may be hard at first, it may even sound absurd. Believe me, I know first hand. But you deserve your love more than anyone else. Give it to yourself, even if it feels ridiculous and silly. It’s the only way towards happiness and fulfillment in life. It’s the first step towards self-realisation and inner peace. Nobody else will give you that love. It can only come from you to you. It’s your only obligation in…

Jonelle is a Mom, Wife, Ostomate, Writer and Community Development Practitioner!  She writes the blog Tyranny of Pink, a blog about intentional living, with a focus on living life positively, purposefully and authentically. In October 2014 she found herself unhappy with her life and the path it was leading her down. She quit her full-time job and decided it was time to do things that make her happy! In September 2015 she had her first child, Oden. His journey into this world nearly killed her. She woke up post-surgery with an unexpected stoma and her whole life completely changed. Embracing our (complex) human nature

    13th June 2017 /

Hey everyone, I’ve missed you! I often find myself distracted in many ways in life. Then I start feeling very anxious and then I realise it often is because I haven’t written in a while. (I know I’ve said that before.) The thing is that when we’re by ourselves, not really doing anything creative, our minds can run wild. It’s like our minds are looking hard to find something to do and when we’re not giving them that, they starts going rampant in our heads. Do you feel that sometimes? I can’t pin point why this is happening, why we still procrastinate, even when we know the process quite well.…

Working with the inner child: illuminations and release

    1st June 2017 /

I’m nearly finished with my Inner Child Therapy. It’s been more than 10 weeks now and it’s been illuminating. It wasn’t as scary and traumatic as I was picturing it but it has been eye-opening and sometimes heart-breaking. I’ve had numerous “aha” moments, things I would’ve probably never known haven’t I done the work. In a way my realisations were more simple, and perhaps even quite common, than I have expected. Nevertheless, it’s been mind-boggling. The two main themes in terms of what I received or didn’t receive from my parents are described below. From my father: My father was busy and occupied with his work. His work was his…

    Forgiveness letter to myself

I forgive myself for neglecting and abusing my body. I forgive myself for rejecting myself. I forgive myself for abandoning myself. I forgive myself for treating my body with disgust. I forgive myself for shaming my body image.  I forgive myself for rejecting my sexuality. I forgive myself for not wanting to give myself love.  I forgive myself for self-abusing through the wrong relationships. I forgive myself for not forgiving myself.  I forgive myself for making the wrong choices. I forgive myself for the self-destruction I was practicing. I forgive myself for the harmful things I’ve done to myself.  I forgive myself for wanting to kill myself.  I forgive myself…

Hey you! Back on the chair, I’m determined to present you with some useful information around the web. But first… In fairness, though, life is intense… I’ve been mainly spending time with my son Sylvian, doing school runs, parks, parents’ meetings and the likes. And talking to his new teacher/carer. Well, things are complicated but I’m willing to work with the issues and repair as much of what has been done in the past. The truth is that we are a collection, or a collage, of what we have been through and what has happened so we have to work with our wounds and scars and try heal them as…

Working with the inner child: unleashing unconditional self-love

    23rd March 2017 /

Last Thursday I started Inner Child Work with a therapist. We will be meeting for 10 sessions over 10 weeks. As it normally happens, I found this person “randomly” (I believe through an Instagram post, which is somewhat odd). I followed through the post, went to her website and found some really nice blog posts and stories. Of course, the Inner Child Work just struck me on the spot and instantly I knew I had to do it. That happened some time in January. And even that it took us a little while to move and settle in Sofia, I knew I shouldn’t change my mind and get in touch…

Hey You! March is here – one of my favourite months – the winter’s pretty much over, the sun’s warming up everything back to life, and in Bulgaria we have the most colourful and meaningful celebrations. First of March is the day of Baba Marta (Granny March) – it marks the arrival of spring and we put on red and white woven martenitsi to symbolise health and longevity.  Third of March is our Liberation Day, when Bulgaria was liberated from the Ottoman Rule which lasted around 500 years. Eighth of March is the International Women’s Day which is widely celebrated around the world and is still quite big in Bulgaria…

    19th February 2017 /

Hey You! It’s been a busy week. Recently I shared about our move from Ireland to Bulgaria, and the trip in between. Now, after almost three months of harsh winter, snow-shoveling and playing house, this move and the change involved with it is coming to fruition. My family and I are ready to move in our new apartment in Sofia and start putting the foundations of this new cycle in our lives and soul paths. It doesn’t sound like much but we’ve put an enormous effort into making this new life come true – we’ve said goodbye to family, friends, the house where our son grew up, the land, the country…
