    My Pain is My Power

    17th June 2019 /

Two weeks ago I started seeing a therapist. During the two times we met, we talked and went over the details of my past. We started with memories from my childhood and moved towards the more recent past. We made a plan – a timeline of particularly traumatic experiences and we’re going to work with each memory and event separately. I haven’t had the opportunity to talk freely about my past and everything that has happened so far. I had a brief experience of therapy back in Ireland right after my sister died but at the time, I had no idea of the magnitude of traumatic stress I was experiencing.…

Interview with Dari Frampton: A woman on a journey of transformation, healing & discovering her true self

    24th May 2019 /

Dari is an old friend from my teenage years back in my hometown. For more than a decade I haven’t heard from her until one day in 2017 Dari got in touch with me while experiencing a personal crisis. She was on the verge of her own spiritual journey of self-discovery and awareness. Since that day, we’ve restored our connection and find ourselves on a very similar path of awakening and healing. By day Dari is a portrait and wedding photographer who loves capturing beautiful moments for people. She has always loved the creative arts but recently she’s grown a deep interest in studying psychology, astrology, ancient healing and wisdom…

    6th May 2019 /

“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.” ~ Morrie Schwartz   Hey everyone! I can’t believe it’s already May and the spring is in full swing! In Bulgaria, this is one of the months with the most holidays and days off. I’m just back from some travelling in the country and some much needed reconnecting with nature. I spent a few days at my father’s house and if you’ve been following my posts, you know we have a “story” with him. Every time I visit, there is some unfolding and clarity gained and this time was no different.…

Laura and I connected through Instagram a while ago and she’s definitely made my feed feel educational and enriching. Her posts are full of gems of wisdom and her self-awareness is inspiring. What I didn’t know about her was her “subtle” sense of humour 🙂 Here are Laura’s own words: Tell us a little about your life journey. I grew up in Brooklyn in a low-income family with middle-class amenities. The streets of Brooklyn are like the lines on the palm of my hand: imprinted on me, ingrained in my soul, and with so many divergent paths.  I’m the daughter of immigrants, my mother from Italy and my father from Korea.…

Setting ourselves free from the pain of the past

    20th June 2018 /

I’ve spent a good deal of time digging up my past, exploring my psyche and searching for answers and truth. I found a lot of pain, sadness, hurt and sorrow. Not only that, of course, but I’ve been focused mainly on the difficult aspects since I wanted to heal them and release myself from the emotional prison I’ve lived in my whole life. For the first part of our life we don’t realise any of this, we simply act out these painful aspects of our past that were lodged into our subconscious. Sooner or later something happens to us to wake us up, become aware and heal the pain that’s…

Self-doubt: get out of your head and into your heart

    14th February 2018 /

I often find myself lost and wandering. I question choices, I search for direction, I grasp for guidance. Since I was a child I was never able to develop a healthy sense of self-worth and confidence. I battle with doubt every time I need to make a decision or take action. This could be mentally taxing and emotionally exhausting. The struggle to stay on top and in control of things is real and relentless. If I say or do something, I doubt whether it was the right thing or if I didn’t rush it. If I don’t say or do anything, I’m wondering whether I’m being too passive or too…

    The power is within you

    2nd August 2017 /

Last month was an emotional rollercoaster. And I know I say that more often than not. But I won’t be able to describe it any other way. Now, I have learned that what really matters is how you respond to the adversity, what you do with your feelings, what you make out of your experiences. It’s probably true that life is just going to keep throwing sour lemons or rotten tomatoes or whatever at us. But what counts is how we take that and what we make of it. “Are you going to drink the lemon juice or are you going to make some lemonade?” You see, the power is…

Working with the inner child: illuminations and release

    1st June 2017 /

I’m nearly finished with my Inner Child Therapy. It’s been more than 10 weeks now and it’s been illuminating. It wasn’t as scary and traumatic as I was picturing it but it has been eye-opening and sometimes heart-breaking. I’ve had numerous “aha” moments, things I would’ve probably never known haven’t I done the work. In a way my realisations were more simple, and perhaps even quite common, than I have expected. Nevertheless, it’s been mind-boggling. The two main themes in terms of what I received or didn’t receive from my parents are described below. From my father: My father was busy and occupied with his work. His work was his…

The four steps of personal transformation

    30th January 2017 /

“Personal transformation is the Dark Night of The Soul – you enter the unknown darkness, you face your frightful demons, but you always, always come out of it more powerful, more resilient and more resourceful. You are a Warrior of The Light.” Personal transformation is normally triggered by painful events in one’s life. Something happens and we reach a point when we’re either forced or we willingly choose the brambly path of evolution. We recognize some things in our lives don’t work anymore and need to change, we start actively questioning our beliefs and thought processes, and we’re open to learning new concepts and incorporating new philosophies. We embark on a whole new…

Honouring how far we have come

    18th January 2017 /

The last couple of weeks have been intense. When we first settled in a small town in the north of Bulgaria everything was new and exciting. Christmas was coming, the snow came too (lots of snow), and we started settling into our routine of starting the fire in the morning, cooking brekkie, going out for a walk and play in the park, shopping in the local grocery store, more cooking… you get the point. It was peaceful, calm, fairy-tale like. My mind managed to calm down so much and I started smiling and laughing, and basically feeling happy with all my heart. It was like I was released from something restricting…
